Warning, Disclaimer, Whatever

I write a lot of silly things.  Cool, I’m not apologizing for that.  But; and it’s a big but (he he I said ‘big butt’, I am autistic.  And not one of these brilliantly successful, holding down a job, passing for normal autistics.  I am an old, diagnosed late, clinically depressed, high anxiety autistic.  I am not together, I have any number of rules and obsessions that box me in.

One of these is seriously effecting my ability to blog.

But first; I have almost no friends.  Because if I spend too long not in contact I find it impossible to initiate contact.  Not difficult, not hard, impossible.  For the few humans I am still in contact with I now receive assistance time so a professional can force me to re contact people like family & doctors.

Blog followers are not friends; well that’s what I believed for the first few months.  But we are friends, there are some of you I adore, some I worship, many I’d love to meet in person.  Contrary to many myths about autism I attach very quickly.

Rules (the dreaded word that controls so much of my life) for creating a successful blog recommend consistency.  In timing that means I should produce regular blogs.

But life and cheap technology gets in the way.

Then depression kicks in!

Then it’s been too long since my last blog!

But I can cope with that because I see it so often in blogs I follow, but I need the apology blog post.  I haven’t written a blog because…

But they can be boring, or if I’m honest really depressing and disturbing – the depression, and hard to believe – the anxiety and autism bits.

Then we have the additional problems of blogging rule 1; consistency.  This time in tone;  is my blog a heart wrenching examination of the hardships and triumphs of a multi autistic household, an avenue for me to develop my comedic writing style; or to be blunt a pity party or an ego trip.  I am worried that it is not fair to lure you with silly but harmless nonsense and then hit you over the head with despair.

I love blogging, I’m not stopping, you have been warned.

thats the ideal. the important thing is that pausing doesnt turn into stopping. if being regular is necessary for that, be sure to write enough fiber into your blog (just keeping with the theme of butts.) 🙂

speaking of being too easily amused, today someone on deviantart mistook daggers on someones wall for swords. i told them they were “sword-of right.” 😦

thats a relief. truth is, i wouldve complained that its been too long. but i dont as a rule like to put pressure on writers.

    1. Easter is over, the holidays finish net week. My major financial blunder has exploded into an over drawn bank account and an unpaid electrical bill. I may lose some important items the kids need because my debit card is over drawn. But as its now out in the open and out of my hands. So onward & upward. I haven’t had a financial disaster of this magnitude in years. Talk to you soonish!

      1. The bank; WESTPAC are being princes about the whole thing, the are being helpful & putting themselves out for us. It’s one of the reasons I’m being calmer about this stuff.

  2. What can I say that hasn’t been said by codeinfig above!

    Definitely don’t stop!

It’s a real vicious cycle, when it’s ‘been too long between blogs’ and it’s one we all fall into time and again. Try not to be disheartened. Whether you blog once a week, once a month, or once a year. Just work to your own schedules and patterns and just keep going. Missing one isn’t the end of the world, nor is missing two, or three… We often feel the need to apologise or try to fill this gap… but really, readers are just happy for more content, readers are just happy to see you back and writing.

As for your tone… I think there’s a little more to it. Tone is often called Voice in writing, and it really is a voice. It’s in everything from your views, to your tempo, to your use of grammar. Writers don’t always have to be silly, they don’t always have to be serious. You can read a serious post by a usually silly author and still hear their voice in the way they write. I think it’s possible to blend the two, and I think you do so very well. One of the best ways to inform someone, is to blend the two.

Hope this helps. Your blog is going great 🙂 Don’t convince yourself otherwise!

      1. ive actually spent my life figuring out how to get people talking about themselves, by talking about myself.

its not that no one takes it the wrong way. some people do end up thinking im just full of myself. it probably helps that when people talk about themselves in return, im interested, and it shows. i switch to asking people questions if they love that sort of thing. i find some people are more easygoing if you avoid putting them on the spot, and talking about yourself is the opposite of putting someone on the spot.
