Don’t Volunteer at Your Kids’ School

Cave Book Club

The Book Fair is coming by hook or by crook.

Where students buy novelties instead of a book.

We’ll make lots of profit but books & not cash.

I’m so overwhelmed I’ve developed a rash!

The library’s busy, so the fair has no home!

The shelves are on wheels so the school we must roam.

I must contact the teachers to arrange class attendance.

We must avoid theft, so what? Build a fence?

I must talk to the club rep. ASAP

She prefers my predecessor & hates talking to me.

There’s so much to organise & I must do it quick.

But the closer it gets the more I feel sick.

I hate this new job & I think I hate books!

Damn my bibliophilia, getting me on these hooks!

  1. Just push your cart ’round,
So your books can be found,
    Those wanting to read,
    Will find you indeed.

    Great poem.

  2. Love it! 😀 One of my favourite times as a little ‘un was when they had book fairs on at school, better than Christmas for me!

    1. Thank you! But the important thing is; did you learn not to volunteer at schools?
