Few people will speak the truth because no one can hear the truth.
Words are filtered through our own prejudices, education and an emotional veil that shimmers and shifts with every fleeting mood.
Correction becomes condemnation so honeyed praise is heaped on, sweetness to help the medicine go down. But the honeyed words are too strong and the true taste is lost. The scribbles of the talentless are indistinguishable from the master works of the genius.
Am I advocating truth no, for the delicate mind all praise is saccharin and all correction damnation. To improve needs recognition of flaws but also the will to continue.
True praise is too delicate to survive the filters of self-loathing; true criticism is sharpened to a destructive, lethal point.
Arrogance is armour that cannot be pierced by arrows of blunt truth, while praise becomes yet another layer of polish until the armour is blinding.
Truth cannot be communicated by words because words change as they are transferred person to person.
We have no common language, every conversation is translated through a filter created by the greatest enemy any of us have; ourselves.
true enough. i believe that true love is armour-piercing.
